December 23, 2015 “The Wondrous Gift”

“My soul exalts the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 “For He has had regard for the humble state of His  bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me;
And holy is His name.
50 And His mercy is upon generation after generation
Toward those who fear Him.
51 “He has done mighty deeds with His arm;
He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart.
52 “He has brought down rulers from their thrones,
And has exalted those who were humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things;
And sent away the rich empty-handed.
54 “He has given help to Israel His servant,
 In remembrance of His mercy,
55 As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and his descendants forever.”  (Luke 1: 46-55)

Good Morning To All This Blessed Christmas Season!

There’s excitement and anticipation in the air. Can you feel it? It’s all around. Greatness is near. Hope…Peace…Joy…Love are coming full circle. It caused Mary to burst forth in a prayerful song. It caused shepherds to move from watchfulness to fear… from fear to anticipation…from anticipation to wonder…from wonder to joy. It caused Magi to set forth on a long, dangerous, arduous journey from their comfortable royal surroundings to the humble home of a little child, bringing with them magnificent gifts. It forever changed the way we look at the world. It brings us to our knees in awesome wonder, praise and prayer. “How silently…how silently…the wondrous gift is given. For God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heaven.” As you come to worship him with shepherds and kings this Christmas, pray once again that he would do what he came to do…”cast out our sin, and enter in…be born in us today.” Let’s pray!

O Lord our God; we join in the dance this day…we dance joyfully in the song of our Savior God who has blessed us beyond our imagining.  Transform our hearts and lives, O Beloved savior, that we may tell everyone we know the Great Good news of Your love forevermore, for we are, indeed, the most fortunate! Amen!
