September 5, 2014 “Mass Conversion Or Death”

“The enemy boasted…I will flash my sword; my powerful hand will destroy them. But you blew with your breath and the sea covered them. They sank like lead into the mighty waters.” (Exodus 15:9-10)

Good Morning Enlistees in God’s Army of Righteousness!

As I read my e-mail this morning, one was from a fellow Christian urging me and all in the Christian community to pray for the people of Iraq. We have all watched with horror and justified anger as the terrorist group called ISIS has with ferocity sought to advance their agenda of “mass conversion or death” upon the citizens, particularly the Christian citizens, of Iraq. We have watched with horrified disbelief as they brazenly and publicaly beheaded not only Americans but the precious children of that Middle Eastern nation, vowing to continue until their enemies have been wiped off the face of the earth. They have threatened to take their campaign of evil into Europe and the United States of America in the name of Allah.

Thousands of years before, not too far from that very region of the world, another seemingly unstoppable foe pursued the people of the Living God to the shores of the Red Sea, hell-bent on their total annihilation. They had swift horses and chariots. They possessed what was then modern weapons of warfare, gleaming swords and spears. Their self-proclaimed “god”, pharoah, led the attack.  Surely these rebellious worshipers of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would all fall by the sword! All seemed hopeless for the people of God. How could they hope to combat such a ruthless and powerful enemy? Their leader, Moses, cried out to the One God for deliverance, held out his staff over the waters, and the Red Sea parted as this “One God” cleared a path for His people and along with it, a snare for their pursuers. What I have recorded in the verse noted at the heading of this post is a line from the song of victory the Israelites sang. Here is another…

Who among the gods is like you, O Lord? Who is like You-majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”

ISIS will fall as the people of God rise up and collectively cry out to God for deliverance. But we who dwell in the perceived security of the United States, currently far from the terrors of ISIS must realize that if this battle is to be won and the enemies of the One True God be vanquished, we must be diligent in our prayers. Christians are being slaughtered because this agenda of “mass conversion or death.” In fact, this agenda is the very one that faced the unsuspecting Egyptians and their foolish confidence in their own military might, and it is also one being faced by the misguided members of ISIS.  In one respect, the forces of ISIS are correct…without mass conversion, death will indeed come. However, death will not come by hands wielding man-made swords, but as a result of the unrepentant heart. I pray not only for the deliverance of the innocent citizens of Iraq. I pray for the conversion of those who are truly lost, for without it, they will surely perish, just as surely as the mighty armies of Egypt, for “Who is like you, O Lord? Who is like you-majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” Let’s pray!

Majestic Lord; I cry out to you today to intercede on behalf of your persecuted children dwelling in the ominous shadow of evil known as ISIS. I pray that you will miraculously deliver these your children from the hands of a ruthless enemy. I pray that you will stir the hearts of the complacent to fervent prayer on their behalf. I also pray, Lord, that hearts and lives of the enemy will be changed, and the deceptive veil of the enemy will be lifted from their eyes and that they will come to understand that You alone are Lord, God, Savior, and King. Hear my plea this day, O Lord, and set your people free once more. This I pray in Jesus’ Holy Name! Amen!
