July 6, 2013 “Your Prayer Part”

“You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation-I don’t want you in the dark about that either. I can see your faces even now, lifted in praise for God’s deliverance of us, a rescue in which your prayers played such a crucial part.”       (2nd Corinthians 1: 10-11-The Message)

Good Morning Praying Partners!

On other days, I have shared my thoughts with you regarding the apostle Paul and what an extraordinary champion of the faith he was. Few if any of us will deal with the situations he encountered in his ministry. He knew how to pray and be content in any situation. But Paul was not alone. he surrounded himself with praying people wherever he went. in this case, he is praising the Corinthian Christians for their part in his deliverance from what appeared to be certain death in Asia. There seemed to be no escape. No amount of human effort would be adequate for Paul and his ministry team to survive. He wrote “we were forced to trust God totally-not a bad idea since he’s the God who raises the dead. And he did it, rescued us from certain doom, and he’ll do it again, rescuing us as many times as we need rescuing.” Then he acknowledges his prayer partners saying, “You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation.” Paul understood the need for many prayer partners and the direct part they played in the success of his ministry, and in the preservation of his very life. Never underestimate the power your prayers of intercession have in behalf 0f others. Many lives have been saved through such dedicated effort. Not one of us would stand idly by and watch someone drown if we had the opportunity to rescue them. Not one of us would fail to warn someone of peril were they to be in the path of an oncoming car. Not one of us would ignore the cries of help from someone trapped in a burning building. We would do whatever we could to come to their aid. Why, then, would we not pray? Intercessory prayer is a powerful way to partner in ministry, and, as those prayers are answered, they are turned into prayers of praise that glorify God and bring honor to His Name. Pray for those in ministry. Your prayers are absolutely essential, and none is ineffective or irrelevant if lifted up with sincerity and belief. Let’s pray!

Heavenly Father: Our prayers today are for those who minister…those anointed to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world. Many risk their very lives in doing so, and we pray for their safety and their effectiveness in sharing that Good News. As more and more come to salvation through their efforts, we give you the glory, the praise, and the thanksgiving in Jesus’ Blessed Name! Amen!
