May 28, 2013 “Yahweh Sabaoth”

“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.” (1st Samuel 17:45)  “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” (Joel 2:32)

Good Morning Precious Friends!

Over the past couple weeks, some of you may have noticed that I missed a day or two in posting these prayer blogs. I have been traveling and have not always had access to the internet, so those days did not have a prayer blog. Trust me when I say, though, that I did not cease praying for you on those days. The scripture quotes I chose this morning have to do with the power of the Name of God and why, when we pray, we should call on the Name of the Lord.  He is “Yahweh Sabaoth”, the “Lord of Hosts.”  He is the Supreme Commander of all commanders, of all nations, all peoples, all created things, both seen and unseen. His is the Name above every name. When David went forth to confront Goliath, he already knew what the outcome would be. Goliath would be defeated, his body fed to the birds, his head cut off, and his army scattered, for he confronted him not with man-made weaponry, but in the Name of the Lord Almighty. The prophet Joel observed that which was echoed by Paul in the book of Romans saying, “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” Everyone who puts complete confidence, trust, and faith in that which they know about God- namely that he is, in fact, Lord of Hosts, will prevail.  As you pray, do so with that confidence. Remember that there is power in the Name which is above every name. The battle belongs to the Lord. Make your prayers in his name. Live, act, and pray as if what you know about God is actually true.  If you do this, I am convinced that you will become bolder in your prayer life as you discover the power of the name of Yahweh Sabaoth-The Lord of Hosts. Let’s pray!

Yahweh Sabaoth, Lord of Hosts; It is with complete confidence that we go forth to face this day and its challenges and opportunities, for we go in the Your Mighty Name. With our trust in You and in your most precious promises, we are ready to face any challenge, big or small, and do so with complete confidence in your saving power. We worship you. We bow before you. We lift high the name of our Lord and our God in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
